If I am not going to use my battery for some time, should I have to leave it in charged or uncharged state?
Your rechargeable battery can be stored either in a charged or in an uncharged state. The only difference would be the time taken for recharging the battery when you are going to use it. Fully drained batteries will take considerable longer time to get completely charged. For better battery maintenance, it s recommended that you partially charge your battery before storing them. Proper care should be taken while storing your cordless phone battery. Do not expose it to extreme temperatures and store the battery in a cool, dry place.
Should I condition my Uniden BT-1005 Replacement Battery every month once as in the case for NiCd batteries?
Not actually! Only NiCd batteries need to be conditioned once in every month. But, NiMH batteries can perform well even without a need for periodic battery conditioning.
I have heard that NiMH batteries are really performing well. So, I wish to replace them in place of the NiCd batteries. Can my cordless phone support this?
The substitution of a NiMH battery for a NiCd battery is favorable only when your cordless phone has been pre-configured to accept more than one chemistry type while manufacturing. So, before investing your money on a NiMH battery, make sure that your cordless phone supports it.
Is there any possibility for NiMH batteries to leak even if I am storing it properly?
Normally NiMH batteries do not leak when they are left unused but if they are overheated, battery leakage is possible. To avoid such chemical leaks, modern NiMH batteries come designed with vents to release the gas pressure built up inside. When these vents fail, your batteries are sure to leak. So it is better that you avoid overcharging your NiMH batteries. In the event of any battery leakage, safely remove the battery from the NiMH battery charger without spilling the chemicals, drop it in a tightly sealed package, and leave it in any battery recycling center.
